Creating a Good Supervisory Relationship – “It will help not only develop your relationship with your supervisor but understand what type of student you are too”

We hosted a group of PhD students from the University of Liverpool Doctoral College on a webinar session entitled Creating a Good Supervisory Relationship. The students gave an overall feedback rating of 4.56 out of 5 (5 being Excellent) and 100% agreed that they felt more confident in using the tools and techniques learned.

When asked what they would say about the session if a colleague was interested they said:

  • “Very informative”
  • “Great interesting points about building a strong relationship”
  • “It will help not only develop your relationship with your supervisor but understand what type of student you are too”
  • “Provides some good food for thought & some robust tools (exercises) to help maintain/ establish a good relationship with your supervisor, but also to manage yourself going forwards”
  • “Brings to the fore a couple of unknown unknowns”
  • “This session would give you insight into the importance of understanding the types of supervisory support that you can get based on your needs”
  • “Good for clarifying what a bad supervisory relationship (on the student’s part) is and how to avoid it”
